Sunday Morning

Todd, Carter, Gary, Robert and Jim

Sunny and Hot, water Temperature 88* and Clear
Today we departed at daylight and I found a school within 2 minutes of leaving the marina. I had to teach the guys how to deploy the baits and turn the boat back to put them back on the fish. I called Tony over in the other boat but shortly after he got there 4 other boats encroached on us. It's not so bad running 50 to 75 yards away from us reeling in fish but two boats that were trolling ran their boats right up to us and threw breaking fish!!! One of them actually pulled right beside me as we were catching fish and left his twin motors running while he cast at the fish we were working. Naturally the fish spooked and the school dispersed not to be found again. Instead of catching a dozen Stripers out of the school we only boated 6. I guess that's what you get for fishing on lake Anna on the weekend. After looking for the school for 20 minutes we went to where no other boats were in sight and set up on some fish and were successful till wake boarders used our boat as a buoy to ski around. We ended up catching plenty of fish but myself and my clients know better than to try to enjoy fishing on the weekend again.

Saturday July 22nd

Floyd Furr and David
Sunny and Hot, Water temperature 89* and Clear
Today my clients cancelled their trip due to the heat so I called up my buddy Floyd and asked him if he wanted to go out for 3 or 4 hours. I wanted to experiment fishing different areas so we went out looking for Stripers to catch. We hit a couple areas and caught one here and there but realized the fish were keying on an exact depth then we had some fun. We got off the water early enough to beat the heat and the pleasure boaters on this hot and busy Saturday. Floyd is the guy you see on a couple hundred electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning vans if you live anywhere near northern Va. Maybe I can get him to change his picture on the back of his vans to this one! FH Furr Heating and Air Conditioning

July 4th afternoon

 Andrew and Phillip

 Phillip

Andrew

Phillip called this morning at 8 am wanting to go fishing. I was already out there with my group and I had plans this afternoon so I called Tony and he said he would take them. We set the trip up to pick them up at 10:30 after I dropped my guys off. By then the boat traffic was rocking and the thought of catching fish was not good. Tony went out searching for schools but none were to be found. His persistence paid off and put these guys on some nice Stripers even though the boats were churning the water up to 2 foot waves. He popped a pic of the 2 guys acting like they were sleeping which sometimes does happen when we are searching for fish. The absolute worse time to fish is in the afternoon on the busiest day of the year but they pulled it off for a good stringer and some great memories.

Sunny and warm, Water temperature 85* and Clear
Today I took the Furr boys out for some early morning fun catching Stripers. We weren't expecting much being the 4th of July but fishing on a busy morning sure beats hanging around the house wishing you were out there. We played around till about 10 and got off the water before it got hateful out there.
Today is Independence Day.
May God Bless us and this great country.

July 3rd fun

DP hooked up Mr. Roy Ellis and Rodney this morning
with a whole lot of fun.

Tony kept Larry, Lloyd and Mark busy reeling in Stripers today.

Simrad Screen Shots

In this pic we are pulling a herring at 28 feet [white horizontal line] through some small Stripers.

Here we are dropping our sinker and bait [diagonal marks on left side of pic] into some small Stripers. The solid line on the left going down is the harder sinker, the faint line is a herring.

Small Stripers again. Notice how small the dots are on side scan.

Great definition on the right side of side scan showing concrete sections of a railroad trestle that was blown up prior to filling the lake.

Here I was running about 20mph [left third of the sonar screen] and saw schooling fish [small red marks] then slowed down to take a better look. The yellow marks in the upper 20 feet on the right side are air bubbles as my boat was coming off plane. Once I stopped I saw more fish on side scan to the left of the boat, turned the boat that direction, put out down lines and most of the rods hooked up.
