Today Bryan and myself caught bait before dawn and he had his baits in the water before first light. Before Steve and Jeff got on my boat Bryan had already boated thee nice four Stripers. What a difference fishing Lake Anna during the week verses the weekend...we didn't see a boat till 9 this morning and the weather finally was beautiful. Both boats boated together about 50 Stripers by noon today and fun was had by all. The Stripers are starting to rut and for the next few weeks fishing should be great.

Today was Clyde's day, first time fishing for Stripers and the first Striper he has ever caught! This Citation hooked up about 5 feet off the bank and headed straight toward the channel. Couldn't have been a better scenario, the fish hit and went away from the rest of the boards which made battling the fish a breeze. None of us realized how big the fish was till he hit the deck, it seemed as round as it was long! Overall fishing today was poor due to it being the weekend with a huge Bass tournament, gobs of Striper boats and every pleasure boater enjoying the 70 degree day. We are still anticipating the time when the Stripers will spawn so we can really have some fun. Hope it happens within the next few weeks.

This is the best catch or the season

March [weather] Madness

March came in like a Lion and continues to give us Cold, windy, nasty and inconsistant weather. Water temperatures started  out this month in the upper 50's but yesterday it was hard to find 47 degrees. We have had to cancel many charters due to the weather but April is just around the corner and it is one of the best months of Striper fishing on Lake Anna.

Friday we had quite the storm blow through and the bad effects of the storm lingered for a few day afterwards. These tough guys wanted to go so I obliged them. The main factor in where to fish was the weather. The lake is muddy up lake, the water temperatures dropped 6 degrees, Bluebird skies and the wind was hateful. The wind trumped all the other adverse conditions so I opted to fish out of the wind as much as possible so I could at least have some control of the boat and also not freeze my clients. We worked hard to catch what we did, fish simply did not want to eat and most of our hits were short. Guess who caught most of the fish?
