Today I had a charter and Bryan took some friends out from the dealership where he bought his new truck, Sheehy Toyota of Fredricksburg. After catching bait we picked up our crews and went looking for schools. I located a school off of a drop off and we set up on them. Little did my clients know this was a precursor to what they were going to experience this morning. We caught 15 or 20 real quick but there were a lot of punks biting so I decided to move on. The lake is about a month behind, a lot of Stripers did not spawn and are absorbing their eggs and sperm consequently the larger fish have been scarce and the smaller non spawning Stripers have been dominate. I was not seeing a lot of fish up lake so we went down and tripped over a massive school and the madness ensued.  After 45 minutes of chaos I left that school and went looking for others. We found 3 or 4 more schools and had a ball, ending up catching our limits of four Stripers over 20 inches each. The crew on Bryan's boat were enjoying the fishing as well as we were, we could hear the kids screaming across the lake when numerous rods would hook up. What a great morning of fishing on beautiful Lake Anna.
Now the Stripers are coming out of their spawning stage
the action is going to heat up and I expect June fishing will
be incredible. To reserve a charter, Contact:

Bryan

Bryan took his crew out on a busy and beautiful Saturday to
spend the morning catching Stripers. They caught close to 100
Stripers and burnt up 300 baits. Not bad for one of the busiest
weekends of the year. Striper fishing is just getting good and
Lake Anna will produce better and better catches as the water
warms up. To reserve a charter, contact:

This weekend we had a group of friends that fished both days with us. We were plagued with a very bright full moon which in turn made the fishing a little tough. The Stripers in this lake love feeding in the twilight of a full moon making it tough fishing the next morning. We located plenty of fish but got punked both days, our ratios averaged about 7 punks to 1 keeper Striper. Regardless we caught a whole lot of fish this weekend and had a whole lot of fun. Today we were on a spot and constantly were reeling in Stripers and after 30 minutes I asked the guys if they wanted to keep reeling or search for larger fish, opting to go hunting.

Sunny and Warm, Water Temperature 72 and Clear
Today we had four boats out which gives us an opportunity to work together hunting schools. When one of us locates a school we call our other guides over that way we can keep up with the schools and insures everyone has plenty of action. Today we caught aver 50 Stripers on my boat and kept 14. All together we boated well over 200 Stripers this morning, what a great fishery! Want to get out and CATCH? Contact:

Lake Anna Stripers are Chewing!

For 40 minutes we this is what we were looking at on my Simrad.
When you see this is is non stop action and easy to catch 20 to
30 fish an hour. For the next few months this bite will only get better.

Bryan and I had charters this morning and got out extremely early to catch enough bait to have enough for this incredible bite we are on. I put 250 baits in my Bluewater Bait tank and by 10 am had used up every one of them. Now that is action! We are in the middle of a cold front, water temps dropped 5 degrees, air temp this morning was in the low 40's, making fishing a little more difficult than normal. I looked for schools for over an hour this morning till I found what I wanted to see. Once we found them my clients who I also had yesterday were ready to go and it didn't take long for all the lines to hook up. Bryan's clients were a little pessimistic this morning when they got in the boat with him telling him if they catch just one fish they would call this trip a success. Well when Bryan put them on the Stripers their attitudes changed real quick. All I could see was smiles on their faces as they ran from rod to rod reeling in Stripers. Together we caught over 100 Stripers and everyone went home with a memory they will never forget. Lake Anna is Great!

Cold front fishing

Cloudy and Rain, Water temp 74*
Today was cold front conditions, air temp was 54*, windy and raw for the spring. I caught 200 baits and picked up my clients at 6 and went looking for fish. After about 25 minutes I found what I was looking for and set up on them. For two hours straight we had constant action, to the tune of using up all of our baits. We caught over 60 Stripers and had a lot of fun regardless of the weather. Bryan came out later after training dogs and wore himself out trying to keep baits in the water. To book a charter, Contact:

Cloudy and cool, Water Temperature 76* and clear
Today we had four boats out on Lake Anna hunting Stripers. We all started pulling boards this morning hoping the fish would be shallow with the low light conditions we were having. After an hour of fishing shallow with no keepers we all decided to go hunting and try to put a pattern together. Eventually Don caught a couple keepers and called me to tell me what the pattern was so it was time to have some fun. We were dialed in now and for the next few hours we laid the smack down on the Stripers. This morning between the four boats we caught over 200 Stripers releasing more than 150 fish to fight again. Lake Anna is starting to turn on and I expect for the next couple months fishing will improve daily. Traditionally the months of May, June and July are hard to beat. It is not uncommon for us to catch over 100 Stripers per boat a morning. This is a great fishery which is managed very well by the VDGIF. Limits are very generous, an angler can keep four Stripers or Hybrids over 20 inches per day. With the moratorium on Stripers in the Va. tidal waters in effect Lake Anna is sure to be a great destination for Striper anglers this year. Another great morning on Lake Anna

 Tucker and Bradley

A net full of Herring and a Largemouth

Cloudy, water temperature 76* and Clear
Tried to catch bait early this morning but after 2 hours only had 72 so we went with what we had. I started on a flat pulling boards because it was so cloudy and I thought the fish would be shallow if they wanted to feed. I only almost got two boards out before we started hooking up. For 40 minutes we constantly had fish on and never could I get my spread out. After going through half our baits we pulled off that flat and went in search of more bait. We located some and I threw and caught 20, threw again and caught 40 then threw again and caught over 200. I had trouble just moving the net up to the boat. I had to dump the net full of bait [with a largemouth in it] because there was no way I could lift it out of the water. I threw again, caught over 100 and we were good to go. We hit four or five more places and caught fish most places we went. We caught a bunch of fish today and had a great time doing it.
